I’m trying to really figure out my own “religious” beliefs. As some of you know, I’ve been developing my own opinions for years, as I’ve been very vocal about them on here in particular in the past. I’m mostly posting this for myself for future reference, and because writing these things out helps better organize these thoughts in my head, to help clearly convey them to myself and those who are interested in what I have to say. These are my opinions from my own mind, influenced by a myriad of things, from The Bible, interviews, my own personal experiences and the experiences of others, and other organized religious institutions that I’ve gathered research on such as Christianity, Satanism, Islam, Buddhism, and many others.

  • There are no “gods.” A god is a personal projection of an authoritative, governing, “higher” figure in one’s life as a product of their own insecurities and environment. God Himself does not exist in reality, but is an individual idea that each person holds responsible for everything he or she cannot explain, or even can explain. The questions of “Why are we here?”, “How did I get here?” and “What caused this to happen?” have no definitive answer in the realms of human intelligence, so to settle our own human insecurities we create an image of something to answer these questions. While still providing no absolute answer, the answer of “God” comforts most of us, assuring us that even if we do not know the answers, something does and all of our efforts in this life are not futile even if it is beyond our understanding.
With this general and vague idea of a god, the details are left to the human imagination, hence we have organized religion. These details have been the subject of countless works of art including The Bible, and when man in his own ability to reason finds something he himself can agree with, a religion is born, no matter how large or small. Religion is not mighty churches with thousands of faithfuls holding hands and singing hymns, but a group of like-minded people who have agreed upon a certain belief that explains to them and satisfies their personal insecurities towards the relation of humanity and spirituality.
  • Life should be lived to the person’s fullest content. Society and communication is inevitable and of vital importance to survival, so interdependence and cooperation should be of the most importance. At the same time, independent thinking should be encouraged as long as it is not to harm another, for this disturbs the subtle harmony of our fragile interdependence. When this occurs, one is susceptible to unhappiness, which to most is not worth while. Why spend time on something not worth your while? As far as human intelligence knows, we as humans only have one life on this earth, so this life should be cherished and celebrated.
  • There is no human nature. All of the emotions humans experience are a result of their environment. Human nature suggest essence precedes existence, which logically cannot be, just as there cannot be a thought without a thinker. Every action and emotion is a response to one’s environment and surroundings. The natural world is here due to physical and chemical reactions over billions of years. As to why is currently beyond our human capabilities of intelligence (but that is not to say it will always be that way). When a baby cries, it is because something had disturbed it. Every cause has an effect, and every action a reaction. Every reaction is in itself an action, and so the cycle continues. From this we achieve our complex global society we have deemed as “human nature” and as time passes, this continues to grow more and more complex, thus our growing intelligence, curiosity and technological advances. It’s no wonder why the world didn’t start with iPads and grow to the Stone Ages over several thousands of years.
  • Sexuality and spirituality should be experimented with to an individual’s own desire. Judgement should not be placed for there is no true concrete basis on such judgement. One’s own opinion is not positive or negative, because one defines the other. Without positive, there is no negative. They are only feeding off each other and both are relative. If someone were to eat red meat, it may be positive to the steak lover but negative to the vegan. If someone were to murder another who was harassing them, it may be positive to the relief of the victim, but negative to the harasser’s personal family and friends; in this case, the loss of a human being is irrelevant, for you must let your previous judgement go (i.e. “murder is wrong”) to understand what I am trying to convey. With this, morality does not exist. There is no right or wrong, for this is no supreme being to judge what is right or wrong; there are only those capable of reasoning, while all on an equal playing field. With that said, sexuality and spirituality should be explored and experimented with to one’s heart’s desire, as long as not to harm or disrupt the balance and harmony of human interdependence. It is not “wrong” to do so, but merely counterproductive (time on this earth is precious, for we never know how much of it we have left). If a man has sex with a woman or a man, there is no difference other than the product (offspring). Even so, sex with a man and a woman may not result in children, so you see there is not much of a difference. One may argue it is the productivity of sex, with the intent of making children, and that gay sex is unproductive, but that is only physically. Mentally and spiritually, it is up to the individual how productive the act is. It is no different than pondering a math problem or reading a novel, for the result is the same. Mental and spiritual satisfaction is just as much a factor as physical and one is not more important than another simply by default.

And that’s all I have so far, really. It may be similar to several different philosophies and religions, but hey, I never said it was a completely new idea. This is just my own synthesis and conclusion.

TL;DR: Life is is a series of actions and reactions that result in our society that is ultimately atheistic and nihilistic. Live life and have fun.
